Every muscle is pumped to perfection in this uplifting documentary. It follows young bodybuilder Aji, from South India, in his preparations to take on the northern musclemen and be crowned Mr India. Through Aji’s against-the-grain quest we witness a rapidly changing Indian society and the rise of this increasingly popular sport, where brotherhood and diversity are celebrated, and India’s first women bodybuilders are making an impact. Elliott Gonzo
Elliott Gonzo is a director and filmmaker based in London who works with commercial, fiction and documentary. He is represented by Prettybird and his work has been featured on It’s Nice That, Another Man, Booooooom, Directors Notes, 1.4, and Directors Library, including a UKMVA nomination in 2022, as well as competing at BAFTA qualifying festivals and winning awards around the world.
Gonzo's latest music video clients include Meduza nominated for a UKMVA award, Wargasm, Enter Shikari, and Nothing But Thieves. As well as directing content work with Sony, Polydor, Tate Modern, Nowness, Dazed, NICCE and Ciroc and Red Bull.
His fiction credits include ‘Sour Milk’ and ‘Yeast’. ‘Tight: The World of Indian Bodybuilding’ will be his first feature documentary and follows a number of documentary shorts, such as ‘Taru,’ ‘Tight(ish)’ and ‘Athena Skates.’
